As a premier early learning centre in Smithfield, we provide plenty of opportunities for both indoor and outdoor activity. Our large spacious outdoor play areas are specifically designed with a combination of natural and manmade materials, allowing the children to experience all the elements. The free flowing areas allow children to explore the different areas either in a group or solitary, it also promotes interaction between siblings which is very important at our service.
We have four sand pits, two large bike tracks, waterpark, construction area fr obstacle courses, dry creek beds surrounded with fruit trees and natives to encourage wild life. Our outdoor area has large grassed play areas so children can run and use their imagination to create their own games. We have spacious verandas which allow children to engage in art activities or just enjoy some quiet time on the large outdoor cushions. The children also get to experience the Constrcutution Zone where the children are provided with dirt, hard hats, shovels, plumbing pipes where they explore the world of getting dirty and grubby.
Another important part of our outdoor area is our barn yard, which has been specially designed to cater for our chickens, goats and ducks. We also have a large aviary, with all hand raised birds so the children can be involved in their care. The children also learn about the reptiles. At Smithfield we have "Bluey" (Blue Tongue Lizard), "Spike" (Bearded Dragon) , Monte (Children's Python). Children are encouraged to participate in the maintaining of animals. This includes preparing food, collecting eggs, feeding and basic cleaning. The children are given the skills to learn how to care and look after all the animals
Smithfield Village promotes Sustainability practices with producing a variety of vegetables and herbs in The Garden World. The vegetables and herbs are harvested by the children and used in the fresh meals served to the children each day.
Our spacious indoor learning areas are very well equipped with state of the art resources for all development stages of the children. All rooms are neutral in decor which provides a calming learning environment with natural light. All our fixtures are made from natural materials including tables, chairs, book shelves and cushions.
The classrooms for Senior Kindy and Kindergarten at our Smithfield premises are equipped with the latest computer technology and interactive whiteboards, this enables ideal learning in these age groups. All rooms cater for individual age groups for optimal growth and development creating a real sense of belonging. Our flexible routine is designed to work with the children and their families to ensure that transition from home to setting is both smooth and enjoyable.
Our 0-2 rooms incorporate individual care routines. This allows our younger children to experience care without disruption to their home routine.
At Smithfield Village we provide morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, as well as a late snack for children who attend after 5pm. All meals are nutritional balanced in accordance with Nutrition Australia, this enable all children to receive their daily intake requirements. Our fully qualified chef provides a mixture of gourmet and home style cooking which caters to even the fussiest of eaters. As some children spend a large portion of their week in care, we feel that it is important to provide a wide variety of different foods. We also believe that meal times are a very important part of our daily routine which are inclusive of each child. Children are supported and encouraged to participate in the learning that comes from this. For example, preparing the eating area, assisting in serving and tidying up after the meal. We can cater for medically diagnosed food allergies, and we include eating rituals that are reflective of diverse cultures.
